In August 2007 I took an advanced Photoshop workshop at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass Village, Colorado. Part of what we covered were the techniques new to Photoshop CS2 called High Dynamic Range photography. Without going into unnecessary detail, this technique permits photography of subjects with extreme range of light values, compressing them into the range that may be supported in a normal Photoshop (or, as below, JPEG) image. Each of the photos below uses this technique, and as you will appreciate from imagining the original scenes, we see here photographs that under normal circumstances would have been impossible, with film or digital.
