Morning Touches Mitre Peak
Mitre Peak is the iconic sight in Milford Sound, so-
named because to the
first explorers it resembled a
Catholic bishop's peaked hat, or "mitre."
The morning was very chilly;
we were permitted on the
foredeck, but photography was limited both because
the ship could not approach the shore and because of
dawn darkness still
enveloping the Sound's lower cliffs.
