Photos inherited from my
great aunts, Myra and Beulah, contained a few surprises (some
already noted). One was a set of photos of them
on vacation at Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, in 1924.
Those were days before creature comforts in the parks were de
rigueur, when roughing it really meant roughing it.
From the photos, it seems that is exactly what these adventurous
gals, one over forty and the other four years younger,
experienced.
We have no documentation of
the trip other than the photos. Postcards found in the
collection are also included. They provide a glimpse into
the backcountry before Gore-Tex and rip stop nylon.
